A Case of Congenital Pure Red Cell anemia

Abstract
|
|
|
Congenital pure red cell anemia which occurs primarily in young infant is a rare entity, in which subnormal erythropoiesis produces a gradual but profound anemia. There is no alteration in the white blood cells or platelets.
We observed a case of congenital pure red cell anemia in a 18 months old female patient who was admitted because of severe anemia and confirmed by bone marrow aspiration and biopsy.
A brief review of related literature was made.
